For the purpose of allowing international students to further study and experience Chinese intangible cultural heritage traditional culture and skills, and promote intangible cultural heritage to the international community, on March 22nd, the international education department and Library co-launched the extracurriculus activity themed with the "Flowers and prosperity "- Ai Jingwei" Master Studio "dyeing art Exhibition". Chinese and foreign students participated actively into this activity, learnd traditional intangible cultural heritage, and experienced traditional tie-dyeing techniques on site.
The teacher led the Chinese and Vietnam students to visit the exhibits and introduced the dyeing process, printing process of the exhibits. Among the more than 40 exhibits on display, the patterns are mostly "dragon" as the theme, and some exhibits are also equipped with phoenix patterns, which contains the beautiful meaning of prosperity. In addition to the common traditional patterns, there are more eye-catching dyeing works with modern style. A piece of art colliding with traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics, so that Chinese and Vietnam students are amazed, have a feeling of the exquisite Chinese ancient folk handicraft technology.
After admiring the exhibits, the students are also eager to try to show the most beautiful patterns in their minds through the ancient dyeing technique. The teacher firstly showed the students several common tie-dyeing patterns, and demonstrated the process of tie-dyeing: fold the cotton cloth, firmly fix the cotton cloth with disposable chopsticks, clips, marbles and other materials, soak it in water for 5 minutes, squeeze it dry and pour dye on it, and 20 minutes later, the pattern with unique creativity and new ideas will appear on the cloth.
